Winter Haven - Linda Kay Albritton Fountain, age 77, passed away November 4, 2022, at her residence in Winter Haven. She was born on September 5, 1945, in Bartow, FL. She graduated from Summerlin Institute Class of 1963. She was a Supervisor for GTE. She was a direct descendant of Col. Green Gandy who was one of the first settlers of Connersville. He was granted 600 acres through the homestead process which is now most of present-day Connersville. He also founded Gandy Cemetery. She had a deep Christian faith with a love for Jesus. One of her favorite things to do while growing up was to climb orange trees and eat green oranges until she was sick. She enjoyed traveling, going to the ocean and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was known for her soft soul. She was preceded in death by parents John & Mary Albritton and sisters Janet Dees and Mary Ann Dekle. She is survived by a loving family that includes her husband Griff Fountain of Winter Haven, daughter Natalie Elson ( Jeff ) of Lakeland, son Jimmy Shirkey of PA., brother Johnny Albritton of TX, granddaughters Hannah Williams of Jacksonville & Emma Elson of Lakeland, grandsons Gavin Elson of Lakeland & Chase Shirkey of Miami. Family will receive friends Monday, November 14, 2022, from 10:15 AM - 11:00 AM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Funeral service will be held Monday, November 14, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home. Private interment will be held at Gandy Cemetery, Connersville. Memorials may be made to the ASPCA.
