I retired from the Florida Supreme Court in 2008. Three weeks before I retired, my husband of thirty-nine years passed away. Because I had been in the DROP program for five years (and because my boss was leaving the Court at the same time), I had to retire. Thus, I found myself without a husband and without a job (after working for forty-five years). So, what did I do? I agreed to go to work as a paralegal for the best and busiest criminal appellate lawyer in the state. I must have been temporarily insane at the time. Because I now have a new love in my life and because he and I want to travel, I am planning to semi-retire from my present job after the first of the year. I have agreed to work a few hours a week from the road.
I have one son, and he and his wife have given me two beautiful granddaughters, ages 10 and 7. After Van passed away, I added an apartment on to my son’s house. I live there during the week and spend my weekends with my honey on his farm in McAlpin, Florida. (How many of you have ever heard of McAlpin?)
My interests are traveling, trail riding in our side-by-side Polaris Ranger 4X4, playing with my grandchildren, playing the piano and keyboard, and collecting antique jewelry.
I am proud to be a member of the Summerlin Institute Class of ‘63. We are the BEST!!
